Music Moves You Out Of The Matrix

Updated: Jun 25

Going to a music festival for the first time can change your life. It serves as a way to break free from the matrix of society. A subculture of inspirational people, and powerful music full of bass, and new self discoveries, feeling beyond happy and at ease. Completely touched by a new beautiful world.

'Raving', is considered to be taboo in modern society. From the outside perspective, it's associated with sweaty warehouses and sketchy people. The territory of the unknown that has been villainized and degenerative. But what if I told you that it's not taboo amongst ancient societies. In fact, it was quite normal and part of their spiritual practice to dance all night long.

When I was In Tulum, Mexico I met the Spiritual Leader, Carlos 'Reindeer' Sanchez, of the Maya people of the Yucatán. We were there for a music festival conducting interviews because the festival is located on their native land. We asked them why we were invited to dance and party there, and they explained to us that they too like to indulge in the act of Communion Ceremony. The ceremony of dancing, on no sleep, and connecting to a higher spiritual self.

Carlos said that the act of Ceremony is to honor a part of ourselves and therefore God/ Divinity / Oneness (however you call it). Shocking at first to hear this. He just told me that there is ACTUALLY a party God...

A party God. The Maya people of the Yucatán celebrate the part in themselves who desire to dance and celebrate life and each other, and therefore the party God. This resonated with me so much that a lot of the shame melted away around this taboo element that society has casted onto our music festival scenes. If the Mayans are doing this too, and find value in continuing this ancient practice, then there's something more going on than just increasing our step count every weekend.

The Mayans invited us to do a music festival on their land because they too do the same thing, in their own ways, and wanted to unite our two worlds together. *MIND BLOWN*

Behind the Scenes with the Media Team over the course of 4 years

All this time I felt a certain way about the party scene, but now I realize its incredibly primal. Dancing in ceremony with each other with music is just as important as it is to eat dinner. A new paradigm has shifted and I want to bring this message to everyone willing to receive it because what we gravitate toward is something of a higher power.

We are fostering positive energy, spiritual growth, universal language, and working toward a lighter world. What I mean by that is connected to my first sentence to this article: 'Going to a music festival for the first time can change your life.' When we are co-creating this space of dance and party, we are inviting others to change their life too. To break free from the matrix and live a more natural life.

Shame is one of the lowest frequencies you can feel, so when you are doing something that you feel to be good for your happiness, it's most likely for a good reason and you should honor that. To not honor it, is to not honor God / Divine / One / Allah (however you call it).
